GANDHINAGAR (PTI): Security has been tightened in major cities of the western Indian state of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Surat and Baroda, and the state secretariat here following threat of bomb blasts at public places State chief minister Chima bhai Patel told reporters here on Noy.10 that the measures had been taken. After an ‘alert’ from the high commissioner of Nairobi about possible incidents of bomb blasts.
The SOS had mentioned the secretariat among the likely targets, he said.
Patel reviewed the law and order Situation and the measures to maintain security at a high level meet. In with the minister of state for home Subodhkant Pandya, chief secretary Balakrishnan, home secretary S.U.Verma and the state police chief A.K.Tandon. Instructions have been issued to check all entry points at the secretariat and entry has been restricted. People have been asked not to touch any suspicious looking object, the chief minister said.
