AMRITSAR, India, Dec 30, Reuter: Two policemen sent to investigate a suspected bomb in the Indian Sikh Holy City of Amritsar were killed on Friday when it went off.
Police said a local resident and a passerby also died in the blast near the city’s main bus station. The bomb, which was concealed in a bag left on the ground, exploded as soon as it was disturbed.
Amritsar is at the heart of one of the most troubled parts of Punjab State where more than 2,500 people have been killed this year in a violent Sikh campaign for a separate homeland.
