NEW DELHI, India, Sept.18, and Reuter: Top officials of the Swedish arms maker Bofors and an Indian Parliamentary panel will extend talks on bribery charges in connection with a 1.3 billion dollar artillery contract, Bofors officials said on Friday.

Bofors Sales Director, Thomas! Dahlin told reporters Bofors President per over Mossberg would make a statement on Saturday at the end of the discussions with the Committee,

“I can only say that there were three and a half hours of discussions today. They will continue for another day tomorrow and could be further extended”, Dahlin said.

Mossberg and his legal advisor, Lars Gothlin, were originally due to leave India on Friday,

‘The two started talks with the Committee after two days of discussions with senior Indian Defence officials. They arrived in New Delhi on Monday.

In April, Swedish state radio charged that Bofors, a subsidiary of Nobel Industries paid commissions worth 40 million dollars for the field artillery order signed in 1986.

An Indian Defence Ministry spokesman said on Friday substantial information had been given by the Bofors team to the defence officials.

 

But Committee Chairman B. Shankaranand said before meeting the team on Friday that he would make no comment on the: discussions nor on opposition demands, that» Bofors be, made» to. Reveal the names of those who were paid the alleged bribes.
