MANALI: The three-day conference of the Himalayan Tourism: Advisory Board (HTAB) which ended here on August 28, reached a consensus to ask the Union Ministry for Home Affairs to if restrictions on the movement of foreigners in the restricted tribal areas of Kinnour and Spiti. Director General of Tourism S. S. Boparai told media persons that the Department of Tourism would soon write to the Union Home ministry to lift the condition on number of foreigners allowed to go In a group, Although the areas had been thrown open to, foreigners, they had been asked to enter the inner line circuit only in groups of four, after being sponsored by registered tour operator.

The recommendations of the conference, which were given final Shape at the concluding session, presided over by chief parliamentary secretary, Satya Prakash Thakur, resolved to spend all of the Rs 4 crore can marked in the budget, for promotion of adventure tourism in Himalayan states.

A majority of delegates were of the view that tourism in Himalayan states had remained a seasonal affair and theirs was a needs to popularize round-the-year tourism in the areas.
