MOGA: The Akali Dal, led by Mr, Parkash Singh Badal, will lead all the States in the fight for autonomy.
Talking to media persons here after the conclusion of a massive procession, a jubilant former chief minister said the massive turnout of people ‘was a mandate in favor of the policies and programme of the Akali Dal and the demand for autonomy is part of the program of the party.
He said the Akali Dal had succeeded in creating a wave in its favor on the occasion of 75th anniversary celebration of the party, a wave many times wider in scope than the one witnessed during the post emergency era in 1977. He said it was not just the expression of negative sentiment against the ruling Congress party but a positive response to the Akali Dal. He said “the response had come from all the sections of the society, All the communities have joined us,” he claimed.
He maintained that his party would continue to fight for getting justice to Punjab and get the long pending demands accepted. These include resolution of river waters dis to, transfer of Chandigarh and other Habl speaking areas to Punjab and He said Punjab river waters had been allocated to Haryana and Rajasthan violating all constitutional norms. He said flow of the Punjab river waters to these two states should be stopped forthwith.
The party would also fight against corruption in high places, he added.
