VANCOUVER: On June 7, 1992 the Sikh Sangat of B.C (Canada) held a conference in the memory of thousands of innocent Sikhs who were massacred at the hands of the Indian Government during Operation Bluestar.

As in the rest of the world, the Sikh community marked this week as ‘genocide week’ as the lower mainland Sikh community of B.C. came together on this special occasion which was held at Moberly park Community Hall in Vancouver.

Sikh’s came to pay homage to their beloved brothers and sisters who sacrificed their lives to protect the very basic human rights of the Sikh nation.

This function was organized by Sikh Political parties of B.C. and was funded by I.S.Y.F., Canada Sub Unit Vancouver along with C.S.S.T.S. Students from all major Universities helped in bringing this program to the success it was.

The stage at this mammoth gathering was first handled by Tarnjeet Singh who explained the need for such a conference, Then Bibi Kuljit Kaur was introduced and she emphasized the issue of unity the need to unite under the issue which is so very dear to all our hearts, that is the current struggle for political freedom, justice, equality and freedom to practice our faith in a democratic slate were no ones’ life would be in danger. She introduced the main speaker for the evening who was none other than the official spokesperson for the Panthak Committee and currently director of Khalistan Affairs Center, Dr. Amarjit Singh. He gave an electrifying speech in both English and Punjabi on how our faith is under attack. He gave a detailed account of the current political situation in India and how the Sikhs living abroad can help in the struggle to create a independent democratic state to be known as Khalistan, He urged all Sikhs to join hands, rise above petty differences and support the Khalistan movement to break the chains of slavery.

Afterwards there was a question and answer session in which everyone participated enthusiastically. After refreshments, everyone spoke to Dr.Amarjit Singh in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Almost all major Television News Stations and radio stations gave complete coverage and had one on one interviews with Dr.Amarjit Singh.
