NEW YORK: Sardar and Sardarni Ujaggar Singh of White Plains, New York, celebrated the first marriage anniversary of their son Bhavdeep Singh and daughter in law Manbeen Kaur. ‘The anniversary was celebrated with fanfare and gusto, The hall echoed with the beat of Bhangra and Gidha, It was a happy occasion attended by a large number of local Sikhs
Sardar and Sardarni Ujaggar Singh are very special members of the Sikh community. They were the first ones to start summer camps for Sikh children in the New York Tri State area, The whole family has continued to work very hard and keep this tradition going. Many of us who came to this country with young children had many misgivings and worries as to how they will cope with their turbans in a strange school system. Our worries were greatly Allayed when we and our children Bhavdeep and his younger brother, Shawn. Their pride in being Sikh was contagious. Bhavdeep opened many “doors of employment for many Sikh youngsters seeking summer jobs. He is now entering the business world. We are sure he is going to make a success of his life.
The Tri State area Sikhs wish the entire family lots of luck and happiness.
