NEW YORK: The Muslim World Day Dinner was field at Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan, New York on December 20, 1986 and Muslims from various countries attended, World Sikh Organization representatives Were specially invited along with Christian organizations. The dinner was attended by about 25 Muslim organizations and was first of its kind, The gathering of about 400 persons present at the dinner was addressed by Muslim leaders, city and state politicians from New, York. Imam Qasim Bageruddin, vice Chairman of the Organization defined the goals and stated that the price of freedom for Muslims all over the world was to ‘get organized and to work together with other minorities like the Sikhs. Sill Spencer, Editor Daily News of New York, Pulitzer Prize winner, promised to cooperate by giving coverage to minorities and other ethnic groups. He stressed the need for proper coordination by various leaders of these communities at appropriate levels to brief the media and to avoid conflicting reports.
Richard Curtis, Chief Editor. Washington Report on Middle Eastern Affairs, stressed the need for single issue orientation by 10 million Muslims and minorities like the Sikhs in this country so that candidates contesting political positions and newspapers should pay sufficient attention to their voice, He also talked of mobilizing silent two million supporters like himself to respond to the needs of the minorities, W.S.O. representatives headed by Dr. Naunihal ‘Singh participated in the dinner.
