KATHMANDU(PTI): Passing Lhamu Sherpa, 32, leading a three member All Women Nepalese expedition team conquered the 8848 meter Mount Everest on April 22, the first Nepalese woman to climb the highest peak in the world.
After reaching the top of the peak the Mountaineers were too exhausted to attempt climbing down and spent the night at a lower height on the south summit. Nepalese tourism ministry quoted Lhakada Phuti Shepra one of the members of the expedition team said that the successful summiteers reached the top of the world Thursday. The Sherpa’s consisted of Sonam Tsiring Sherpa, Pawa Tarsi Sherpa, Lak Nuru Sherpa, Pemba Nuru Sherpa and Pemba Gurje Sherpa. The third member of the team Ms. Nanda Rai is at the base camp.
