CHANDIGARH, India: The Punjab Governor S.S. Ray’s exercise to discuss the Punjab situation individually with the leaders of various political parties drew blank as the leaders of both the Akali Dals turned down his invitation. The U.A.D. leaders had announced some days ago that their party will stay away from the official meetings as a U.A.D. leader described their earlier participation in official meetings as “futile”. Akali Dal (L) who had been responding to the government’s invitation earlier by Mr. Ray.
