OAKLAND, CA: A video aimed at combatting alarming rise in the incidence of AIDS came among Asians and Pacific Islanders has been recently released by a health group for Asians. Video called
“Behind the Mask” AIDS —It Affects All of Us,” is available in English, Cantonese, Korean, Samoan, Tagalog and Vietnamese languages.
The incidence rate of AIDS has shown alarming increase among various Asian ethnic groups during the last year. According to a center for disease control the number of AIDS cases among various Asians, Pacific Islander groups in United States increased by 47 percent between September 1988 to August 1989.
Oakland based Association of Asian Pacific community Health Organization feels that AIDS educators find it very hard to convey their AIDS prevention message to Asian groups because of their cultural problems dealing with sexuality, drug abuse and their unwillingness to discuss such issues openly,
