NEW DELHI: The All India Babri Masjid Action Committee (AIBMAG) on Oct.29, ruled out any scope for dialogue with the leaders spearheading the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya, saying the Supreme Court’s verdict rejecting the presidential reference had left the issue to the Allahabad High Count to finally decide upon. Speaking at a news conference here, leaders of the AIBMAC said an emergency meeting of the committee Saturday discussed the issue threadbare and decided that efforts for the restoration of Babri Masjid at its original place should be made more vigorous.
AIBMAC leaders Jafar ab Jilani said though the committee had not chalked out any plan of action, it would enlighten the people about the apex court’s “historic” verdict and expose “untrustworthy and unreliable leaders of BJP, RSS, VHP. And their allies.”
He also appealed to the electorate to defeat the Congress as well as the BJP in the ensuring assembly elections on this issue.
Replying to a volley of questions, the AIBMAC leaders, including Jawed Habib, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, MP, and Shafeequr Rehman Burg, called upon the Central and the UP government to take steps for expeditious disposal of the title Suits on Ayodhya “within six months.”
They also said all efforts of Muslim organizations, especially those of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, should be carried on in such a way that the masses and secular minded people were not disappointed.
‘The meeting was attended by 35 ‘of the 60 members of the committee, they said.
Welcoming the Supreme Court verdict, Jilani said’ it had vindicated the AIBMAC’s stand that the dispute was not one of faith, but of the fact and legal rights to be determined in accordance with the law.
To a specific question whether the committee would accept invitations for talks by the Ramalaya Trust recently constituted by the Shankaracharyas, Jilani parried the query and said negotiations could! Not be held under any preconditions.
