“NEW DELHI: The ‘Punjab administration is being revamped an “action plan” to deal with the militancy there is being finalized, the Minister of State for Home, Mr Subodh Kant Sahay, said Nov 27.
Voicing concern over the recent spurt in killings in the state, Mr Sahay said: “The administration has already gone into action to check the killing. If the militants think that the government is being lenient, they are mistaken’ and should not take us, for granted.”
The government, Mr Sahay told PTV in an ‘interview, continued to follow the policy of tackling the situation with “firmness coupled with flexibility.”
Asked what steps the new government was taking” to deal with the recent Spurt in violence, the minister said the administration would be revamped and steps were being taken to implement a “long term action plan” with changes in the state officialdom.
Some officials, he said, were willing to move out of the state.
“Explaining the action plan, Mr Sahay said the coordination between the districts, state and central levels was being further strengthened and measures were being initiated to “decentralize” the authority of the district administration to ensure maximum participation of the people at the grass root level.
