CHANDIGARH: In an attempt to tide over the space crunch, the Food Corporation of India has decided to make use of abandoned airstrips for storing wheat procured during the current rabi season.

“This was disclosed by the Managing Director of the FCI, A.V.Gokak, after his visit to different areas of Punjab.

He said the abandoned airstrip of Maharaja Faridkot was being used as a storage place. As much as ‘50,000 metric tons of wheat would be staked there. In a matter of days Efforts of securing the Fatuwala airstrip in Ferozepur district were also on, the MD said.
