WASHINGTON D.C: “The North American Assisi: A Multi Religious Meeting” scheduled to take place on October 31, — November 1, 1988, is a conference ‘sponsored by the North American Interfaith Network, a coalition of interfaith organizations in the United States and Canada, and will be hosted by Interfaith Ministries in Wichita, Kansas.
The conference will reflect the reality of religious diversity in No1th America and explore the reality openly and honestly. There will be leading scholars and religious leaders participating through major addresses, panels and workshops. The conference will focus on issues of Peace, Justice and Environment as well as diverse ways to increase dialogue and understanding among the religions sharing the North American continent including prayer, celebration, education, the arts social service and advocacy and mass media, S. Rajwant Singh, secretary of GGSF as a planning committee member for this conference, attended a preparatory meeting of June 4 and June 5, in Kansas, along with representatives of other religous groups. The major religions identified by the committee are: Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Moslem, Jain, Jewish, Native American, Shinto, Sikh, Unitarian, and Zoroastrian. The committee hopes the conference will promote interfaith understanding and cooperation at the grassroots and globally.
