CHANDIGARH: Thousands of Sikhs joined the procession which carried the last remains of Babbar Khalsa International activist Bhai Amrik Singh Kauli for immersion into the Sutlej at Kiratpur Saheb in Ropar district on June 4.
S.G.P.C. chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra led the Sikhs. Several prominent leaders of Akali Dal (Badal) joined the procession the public was raising slogans “Amar Shahid Bhai Amrik Singh Kauli” (Long live martyr brother Amrik Singh Kauli).
Before the last remains were immersed Bhai Daljit Singh chief granthi of Kesgarh Saheb gurdwara said the last prayer. Later the siropas were presented to Bhai Kaulis father Bhai Sewa Singh and mother Mata Parkash Kaur. Siropas were also presented to the father and mother of Bhai Gurdial Singh Kauli namely Bhai Amar Singh and Mata Mohinder Kaur.
Earlier hundreds of villagers of Kauliand neighboring villages thronged the head office of Chandigarh police toclaim Bhai Kaulis body from the Chandigarh police which killed Bhai Kauli There are two versions of his death One he died of poison and the other he was killed in a fake encounter. In any case his death came about six hours after he was captured by the police.
The Babbar Khalsa International is investigating the possibility of police infiltration into its ranks which led to Bhai Kaulis capture and death Bhai Kaulis successor has not so far been named. It is likely to be done after Bhai Kaulis bhog ceremony on June 12.
