NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Govindacharya is expected to be shifted from Delhi and asked to go to the South.
There is a strong move to ensure that Govindacharya is given charge of only one state, Tamil Nadu, and not of the entire South which has shocked his admirers in the party. While his impending transfer was ostensibly a part of the BJPs plans to build a base in the south and the north east, the controversy over BJP MP Unia Bharatis intention to quit politics over the canard spread about her and the general secretary by her own party colleagues, has given a new twist to the affair
Buffeted by charges and countercharges, there is a growing belief that the young leader may also opt to leave the hurly burly of central level politics for allow profile task, The unsavory controversy has in fact acted as a double-edged sword, While his detractors in the party, upset by the significant role that Govindacharya played and the immense cloud the carried, saw in it an opportunity to marginalize him, there was also the feeling that any step in this direction at this juncture may invite yet another out of controversy and his departure may be interpreted as an exile, particularly by the media,
Yet, the argument that sending him away from the scene would help settle the dust raised by unwanted controversies and allow the party to restore the damage done is also being voiced. The general secretary who played an important role in bringing the party from the sidelines to the mainstream of politics.
