UNITED NATIONS, The European community has urged India and Pakistan to double their efforts to reach a peaceful settlement on the Kashmir Issue, “creating conditions under which the population of Kashmir can enjoy its fundamental rights and prosper in a memorandum circulated with the speech of Foreign Minister of Netherlands Hans Van Den Brock, the community  expressed concern over reports both of human rights abuses by the Indian security forces and of material support being given to militants in Kashmir from the territory controlled by Pakistan.

Condemning the use of violence for political ends in Kashmir and urging all concerned to exercise utmost restraint, the community said international human rights and humanitarian organizations should be allowed to visit Jammu and Kashmir to give an independent

Assessment of the situation,

The memorandum was circulated on the community’s behalf with the speech of Broke as he is the acting president of the council of ministers of the European community It listed the community’s position on all major issues, region wise, and countrywide

The community welcomed the efforts by Indian and Pakistani authorities to defuse the tensions and mentioned the agreement reached in April on advance notice of military exercises, man oeuvres and oops movements and on the prevention of air space violations.
