ISLAMABAD: Pakistan president Ghulam Ishaq Khan Sunday said there was no change in Islamabad’s policy towards Kashmir.
“Everybody wants a solution to the Kashmir issue within the framework of the U.N Resolutions” Khan told a waiting group of newsmen after the inaugural function of the first South Asia Geological Congress.
Amidst Tight security Khan said people should be in agreement with the policy and there was no change in the policy.
A debate started in various influential circles in Pakistan after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif talked to the BBC about a so called third option or independence of Kashmir.”
BBC had reported that Sharif said if Kashmiris were given their right to self-determination they could decide their own future by either joining India or Pakistan of remaining independent.
While the hard-line factions like the Jamaat-E-Islamic criticized the Prime Minister and termed his statement as “irresponsible” the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front chief Amanullah Khan had promptly welcomed it

NEW DELHI: The center has banned the militant outfit Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front JKLF)
The gazette notification banning the organization was issued Thursday and official spokesman said
The JKLF was banned by the Jammu and Kashmir government along with weaver other militant outfits but the ban expired on December 18 when the term of the tribunal to consider the ban appointed by the government ended before making its recommendations.
The official spokesman said earlier the organization had been banned the state laws but now the ban was under central laws.
State governor G.C. Saxena had said in December that the JKLF was not a banned organization. Following this the home minister S.B.Chavan said the organization would continue to remain banned as its activities were detrimental to the security of the nation
A report from Jammu said the order issued by the home ministry under unlawful activities (prevention) act of 1967 on February 18 has been intimated to the state government.
