Kashmiri physicians, surgeons and nurses working in Britain held an hour long protest demonstration outside the Indian High Commission here in London to express their profound grief and outrage” against the killings held in Kashmir of two prominent doctors.
The demonstrators were carrying placards with slogans such as *Save Kashmir from Indian terrorism.” Several protestors wore their professional white jackets and overalls and had black armbands on as a sign of mourning, they later marched from the High Commission to Downing Street to hand over a petition to the British Prime Minister.
Security at the High Commission: building was tight and the police kept the protestors in a cordon, it was a peaceful demonstration.
However, the organizers, The Kashmir British Doctors Association, did not present any petition to the High Commissioner A spokesman for the association told” Dawn that the Indians seem 16° ignore public opinion as such petitions were useless under the present circumstances.
In their petition to the British Prime Minister, the Kashmiri: doctors drew attention to “the vicious and blatant assassination of Dr.Abdul Ahad and Dr.Farooq Ashai by the Indian security, forces.” This was an act of revenge for their successful attempts drawing international attention widespread abuse of human rights by the Indian security forces.
