Media Mogul Ted Turner was named Time magazines men of the Year”, recently, “for influencing the dynamic of events and turning viewers in 150 countries into instant witnesses of history.” By giving this award Time cited the impact of media in affecting, the way events unfold.” We live in an age where communication and information are vital in every sphere of life. At this critical juncture when Sikhs are struggling for their own independence and undergoing immense suffering, the need for communication has assumed a paramount role in the building of our nation. Unfortunately the Sikh nation has not paid much attention to this dire need. In the past, many newspapers and magazines attempted to meet this need in North America, but most failed due to a lack of resources. The World Sikh News is the only English language Sikh newspaper outside of India which serves the needs of the international Sikh community for formation on and a voice crisis affecting Sikhs Worldwide.
It provides an invaluable service by reprinting significant human rights reports in full, It is critical that the entire Sikh community comes together in supporting this valuable organ.
As World Sikh News enters its eighty year of publication, I offer my congratulations and my thanks to its staff members whose dedicated work is all too often acknowledged. Let us remember them in our prayers so they may continue to provide such an invaluable service.
