CHICAGO: Sikh Religious Society, Chicago sent identical telegrams protesting the second attack ‘on the Golden Temple, according to the Society’s Executive Secretary, Mrs., Bhagwant Kaur Sidhu. The telegrams were sent to the Prime Minister of India, Chief Minister of Punjab and Jathedar ‘Akal Takht, The text of the telegram is as follows: we unreservedly condemn India Governments dastardly attacks on the Golden Temple and 13 other Sikh Holy Shrines. Attacks meant to humiliate Sikhs, violate sanctity of Holy Temples, and divert attention from real issues in Pun jab. We demand 1. End religious persecutions 2. Release all in no ‘cent Sikhs vide Bains committee recommendations and action against offending officials. 3. End sec ret trials 4, Lift ban on entry of foreign press in Punjab. 5. Arrest and try those responsible for murder of Sikhs in November 1984. 6. Give assurance no violation of sanctity of Holy Temples of Sikhs and other minorities in future.
