JAMMU: The RSS Chief Balasahib Deoras has said the controversy regarding the Ram Janam Bhoomi Temple if settled by giving any portion of the Babri Masjid Committee would not be accepted to the Sangh.
Mr. Deoras was addressing RSS volunteers here today to mark the bright centenary celebrations of Dr. K.B, Hedgewar, founder of the Sangh, and the Vijayadashmi festival.
It was a historical fact that the mosque had been constructed by the then Muslim rulers after demolishing a temple there. There was no question of handing over to the Muslims who were claiming it to be the Babri Masjid. This would not be allowed.
He said the RSS would make efforts to resolve the issue by educating the Muslims about the facts. He stressed the need for maintaining the Hindu majority character of the country to save it from further disintegration. Those parts of the country had disintegrated where Hindus were reduced to a minority.
Mr. Deoras said it was insulting that certain political parties were trying to dub the RSS as fundamentalist, communal and antinational. India was secular only because of its Hindu majority character. Hindus were not allowed to perform their prayers even inside their houses in Muslim countries.
He was of the view that the Article 370 of the Constitution providing a special status to Kashmir had created separatist tendencies in the valley. The instrument of accession signed by Maharaja Hari Singh merging Jammu and Kashmir with India should have been considered as the final document. But the leaders at the Centre at that time incorporated the article in the constitution to appease the Muslims.
They did not for see problems which the provision would create.
It was unfortunate that the Hindus of Kashmir were attacked by Muslims in reaction to any development in the country or outside like the hanging of Z.A. Bhutto and the death of Zia-Ul-Haq.
