The news item relating to the withdrawal of the Sikh Cultural Society, New York, from Sikh Council of North America and published in the January 16, 1987, issue of World Sikh News was based on the written report sent to our office by the Sikh Cultural Society, New York. The report was reproduced in its original form without any comments or additions from the newspaper staff. The reports of responsible Societies and Organizations are published by all newspapers without referring to the individuals mentioned in them. Newspaper office cannot function as a courtroom where judge mentis given after listening to all the concerned parties.
Newspapers publish stories supplied by responsible quarters and the proper approach on the part of Mr. Devinder Singh Sidhu and Mr. Balbir Singh Brar would have been to sort out the matter with the Sikh Cultural Society. However, for the satisfaction of our valued readers like Mr. Sidhu and Mr. Brar, we requested the Sikh Cultural Society to set the record straight. We have reproduced above.
Amarjit Singh Grewal’s reply to Mr. Sidhu and Mr. Brar which is self-explanatory and vindicates the story published by us.
