SRINAGAR: Nine persons including five militants and a security man were killed and ten others seven of them securitymen injured in the Kashmir valley of the sensitive northern Indian border state of Jammu and Kashmir since Sunday night.
Manzoor Ahmed personal assistant of the deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Ananmag was let off by his captors after 39 days on Saturday official sources said Monday though the two Swedish engineers abducted on March 31 by the activists of the Muslim Janbaaz force still remained untraced.
Three militants were killed in the border town of Baramulla two in Srinagar and two others in border district of Kupwara official sources said.
The worsening law and order Situation prompted the’ authorities to call out the army in Batmaloo locality to assist para military forces but it was withdrawn after peace returned to the locality. Three persons including a 25-year-old woman received bullet injuries in an encounter between militants and the border security force personnel in the locality.
The woman identified as Baby succumbed to her injuries later an official spokesman told reporters Monday.
The security forces chased the militants and arrested three of them an official spokesman said.
He said a militant and a civilian were killed when security forces opened fire after they were attached by the militants at Bagyas Chattabal in downtown Srinagar Monday.
A border security force personnel was killed and six others wounded when militants ambushed their vehicles at Khumriyal near Kalaroos in Kupwara district on Sunday.
