The P.11.12.0. team asked the two journalists whether they could throw light on the dead bodies recovered from the malba. Their reply was:

“There could be three possibilities. The persons could be police informers or intelligence agents. They could be the ones who carried out weapons transactions and in the process may have misappropriated money and thirdly they may have been killed by mistaken identity”.

The two journalists did not rule out extortions and said that it was an accepted fact. They cited two instances of Amritsar. However, it was difficult to identify the groups responsible for the extortions.

The two journalists made no bones about the existence of a certain group patronised by the then Amritsar S.S.P., lzhar Alain, which was also functioning from inside the premises. The journalists called them “Alarn sena”.

“We have no specific information regarding any person having been killed on pain of non-payment of ransom money”.

The P.H.R.O, team was anxious to know about the alleged incidents of rape inside the complex. Mr. Surinder Awasthi and Mr. Garg offered the following comment:

They stated that no specific instance had been quoted to them by any authority or by others. As stated above, there could be the possibility of monetary misappropriations on the part of those “carrier women” which may have led to their elimination or there may be the possibility of their being police informers.

Mr. Awasthi volunteered the comment that the only specific instance of the alleged rape inside was provided by the then S.S.P., Amritsar, Mr. lzhar Alain. Ile had produced two alleged women complainants before the Press and the Doordarshan. But the entire Press tribe here knows the exact position. The women concerned were d, malty hired and tutored by the police to defame the insiders. This was only a propaganda stunt to which not much credance should be given.

Mr. Awasthi also revealed the story of a mysterious dead body. On 3.3.1987, the mother of one Koichi, Singh of Amritsar reported the disappearance of her son Kuldip Singh. On 9.3.1937 Mr Izar Alarm stated at press conference that the bullet-ridden body of Kukldip, Singh had been revered from the outskirts of Amritsar. The mother demanded the dead body the next day but was refused.

Now the mother herself has identified the body 01 Kuldip Singh taken out of the debris!

Mr. Awasthi stated that lie had reported the entire matter in “Jan Satta” of Chandigarh.
