KOCHI: Two boats were totally gutted drowning four of its occupants and causing bums to five persons when a kilometer long stretch of oil slick in the coastal waters near the Ernakulam wharf here in this southern Indian state of Kerala went up in flames early Sunday.

The port trust’s fire services sources said the blaze was put out after firemen battled for over an hour.
