CHANDIGARGH: Punjab Chief Minister Harcharan Singh Brat informed the Vidhan S that 300 wanted under the Tada were still at large.
Replying to a question from Tarsem Jodhan the Chief Minister said as of Jan 1. 1996, 256 cases were still in progress and 171 persons had been ‘convicted. Interestingly, the list of absconders includes Gurbachan Singh Manochahal and Dharam Singh kaswal who ‘were killed in encounters, the name of Wassan Singh Zafarwal. a militant leader, appears twice in the list. [His list also includes Akali leaders Jagdev Singh Talwandi, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Sucha Singh Chhosepur and Mohan Singh Matia.
