NEW DELHI: Twenty persons were killed in the militancy ridden northern Kashmir valley from April 2630.

There were loud explosions on city outskirts Sunday evening near a security picket causing severe damage to the post.

Eleven persons, including eight militants, were killed and five persons injured while security forces launched an offensive against the subversives in the Kashmir valley Monday.

Additional paramilitary forces were deployed around Kot Balwal prison where ITPB Personnel Wednesday evening shot dead four detainees and injured 21 when detainees protested against killing one of their colleagues.

Senior police officials said more companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were deployed in and around the prison to prevent any untoward incidents as tension prevailed among the 1272 inmates.

Of the tour killed, three belonged to Baramulla district and another to Srinagar.

Two persons were killed and eight militants were arrested in Kashmir valley where the imposition of curfew and a bandh paralyzed normal life on Wednesday.

Militants killed two persons and snapped a vital communication link while security forces arrested nine militants from parts of the Kashmir valley overnight.
