NEW DELHI: In a major political development, 18 Congress (I) MPs from Kamataka met the Prime Minister, Mr P.V. Narasimha Rao, on Thursday and leveled serious charges of corruption and maladministration against the Chief Minister, Mr S.Bangarappa, and his ministerial colleagues.
This concerned move by a majority of party MPs from the state comes hot on the heels of the spurt in dissident activity against the Chief Minister, Mr N.Janardhana Reddy, in then eight boring Andhra Pradesh. The party high command has already sent the Law Minister, Mr Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, to Hyderabad on a “peace” mission. The immediate goal of the party MPs is to stall the move of the chief minister to expand his cabinet and to serve notice that they are no longer willing to be passive spectators to the going son in the state govt.
Though most of the MPs in the delegation are gunning for Mr Bangarappa, the memorandum submitted by them to the Prime Minister does not make any specific demand that he step down,
