NEW DELHI: The French government has conferred its highest civilian award, “The order of the Legion of Honor, on G P Talwar, director of the National Institute of Immunology.

Talwar is the first Indian scientist to have been chosen for this honor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of immunology, says a press release.

“The order of Legion D’Honneur,” was instituted by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802.
