JAMMU: In a powerful bomb last in a Kathua-bound passenger bus at Devak Bridge near Vijaypur 30 km from Jammu over 16 bus passengers were killed and 33 injured 16 seriously on Oct.31.
This is the second major bus explosion in October in the winter capital of the State which had remained peaceful since Pakistan sponsored insurgency began in Kashmir Valley nearly three years back.
Saturday’s explosion took place in a private bus near Devak Bridge on Jammu Pathan kot Road at 9:45 a.m. The bomb was a plastic time device of Chinese make usually found in the possession of Kashmiri militants these days.
Eleven commuters died on the spot. Others succumbed to their inquiries on their way to the hospital. Wazir said most of the injured had been brought to Jammu while others were admitted to the Samba Hospital.
The blast generated shock and panic in Jammu city with people of the temple town running towards the General Hospital where crowds swelled to donate blood for the injured.
Angry youth shouting slogans against the State Administration look out small processions and resorted to stone pelting in the City Chowk Jewel Bazar and other busy areas.
