NEW DELHI (PTI): Fourteen militants were killed in Punjab in the last four days of April.
Top Babbar Khalsa militant Kamaijit Singh alias Nai alias Master, chief of Majha zone of the outfit, was among five militants killed in separate incidents in Punjab overnight Sunday.
Nine militants were also arrested by security forces in different pans of the state during the period. Top militant Kamaljit Singh, who carried arc ward Of Rs five lakh on his head, and his unidentified accomplice were killed by police in an encounter near village Cheema in Jalandhar district Sunday night. Kamaljit was recently appointed chief of Majha zone of the outfit. Three top militants of the Khalistan Commando Force (Zaffarwal) were among nine militants killed in Punjab Tuesday.
The deputy chief of the Khalistan Commando Force (Zaffarwal), Resham Singh, Lt Gen Sukhdev Singh and their two unidentified accomplices were killed in a fierce exchange of fire with the security forces.
In the past few weeks the policy has been that militants are lured into surrender by promises and later shot dead in false encounters.
Meanwhile, in the state, District Authorities imposed dusk to dawn curfew within 30 meters on either side of railway lines in Amritsar district to prevent any ‘attempt to sabotage or damage railway lines by militants.
