HARARE Reuter: Prime Minister Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe about to assume leadership of more than 100 third world countries said today he had a dream that the nonaligned movement could help the superpowers live in peace
Ata news conference before the eight non-aligned summit next week he also announced that he would scrap a trade agreement with South Africa and appealed to the world to help build a bulwark in the small nations of Southern Africa against onslaught from the regional superpower.
Mugabe who will take over chairmanship of the 101-member non-aligned movement for a three year term next Monday used the occasion to outline his ambitions for the body professing independence of either the U.S or Soviet-Led Poer Blocs.
“If you want me to tell you some of my dreams for the future.” he said
One area is ensuring as much support for the dialogue between the Soviet Union and United States to continue so that there is complete agreement on peace.
He hoped that following such an agreement an international conference would be called to discuss peace and disarmament.
