CHANDIGARH: AT venues for different events at the Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival being organized on the Punjab University campus reported full capacity after a couple of days.
Most of the events saw tough competitions among the teams from various universities of the region.
One-act plays music classical vocal solo quiz competition poster making and cartoon-making and folk and tribal dances were the events of the day. The plays and the folk dances were the biggest draw today even the delayed start to the dances did not deter the hundreds of students who had flocked to the venue
The saving grace for the organizers was that the events were divided over five venues which divided the student audience also. The rush was greater today also due to the re-opening of the teaching departments on the campus
The demand for representation to existing student leaders on the local Advisory Council (LAC) of the U.T. was raised at the folk dances competition by the Campus students Consultative Committee (CSCC) president Mr Kuljit Singh Nagra. He also urged the authorities to take up other demands of the campus students like the construction of bigger university auditorium elections for student bodies in all local colleges from next session and reservation of seats in jobs and admissions for students excelling in cultural activities. Students from all participating universities got together for a camp fire near the Students Center. In an informal atmosphere the boys and girls sang and danced. The camp fire was organized with greater enthusiasm
