As mentioned elsewhere, Citizens for Human Rights and Civil Liberties (CHURCIL) Chicago, is a private, non-profit research organization dedicated to supporting Issues relating to human rights and civil liberties. The organization seeks to promote democratic principles which affirm the basic human values of liberty, equality and justice towards this end the organization undertakes research and publishes relevant scholarly material from time to time. CHURCIL welcomes and encourages research enquiries. You are requested to join our efforts in pursuing the above ideal by becoming a member.
CHURCIL is in the process of establishing liaison and communication with Amnesty International, United Nations Human Rights Commission and other similar bodies. Please keep CHURCIL informed of any aspect of human rights and civil liberties, especially their violations in the form of unlawful arrest, torture, in human treatment and the like. Any relevant material, evidence, letters and write-ups will be most useful for CHURCIL in pursuing possible relief.
Please send us suggestions and ideas on relevant topics for research and support by CHURCIL. A possible area of study and appropriate documentation is the plight of the persons, including women and children, arrested in Punjab under the recently promulgated Government of India ordinances. Also the names and addresses of the widows and people killed during the riots and details of property damage are proposed to be documented for further help and relief. Please send suggestions and information related to the proposed topics of research. Do become a member of CHURCIL for an effective contribution to the cause of human rights and civil liberties or contribute funds for future publications.
