STOCKTON: Radio Khalistan program is taken off the air immediately by the WWCR Radio Station under pressure from U.S, state department. The WWCR Radio Station, Nashville, “Tennesse, management informed the Radio Khalistan program producers that U.S. state department called the management and told that government of India is objecting the relay of this program. According to Indian government this program is revolutionary and asking people to over throw Indian government. The radio management further said that US. State department is taking Indian governments words though the state department of U.S. it self has note valuated the Radio Khalistan Program yet.
Radio Khalistan program producer asked Radio Station program director on phone if Indian government has provided any objection on specific portion, Content or in general of the program, the Radio Station (WWCR) stated that they did not receive any thing in writing from U.S. state department… He further said that US.S. State department do not want to annoy a friendly nation and WWCR radio station policy is not be censored or blackmailed by any foreign country, he stressed
This radio station does not relay any program that contains false accusations against individual of organization. They cannot evaluate the Radio Khalistan program as it is in Punjabi. The program sponsors offered to provide translation in English of any part of program to which govt of India is objecting so that radio station management and Pan American Board casting can evaluate the objection,
The program sponcer even agreed to let a third party an slate that pant of the program to which Indian Government objects. The program sponcer fully agreed with WWCR management not to be blackmailed by any foreign power censorship and jeopardise freedom of press principle. The program sponcer requested the radio management to send in writing the reason for cancellation of this program. The Radio Khalistan program listener will be informed later on any future developments. For the time being this program is suspended by high handedness of Indian government.
The Radio Khalistan program is religious, social, cultural program in Punjabi language to project Sikh point of view to the world and provide analysis and commentary Con current affairs effecting Sikhs in world, violation of human rights and basic freedom rights of individual. This 1/2 hour weekly program was started on December 2,1991, sponsored by Kaur organization and produced by Singh and Amrit Kaur Bopara in Tracy, California.
