BELJING (PTI): The Chinese communist party which is preparing to hold its 14th National Congress soon, has more than 51 million members, according to an announcement Oct.6,
Party members could make up roughly five per cent of China’s Population of 1.1 billion.
More than 7.51 million members were enrolled since the 13th Congress held five year: ago, official Xinhua News Agency said quoting the party organization department,
A third of China’s 24 million professionals and technicians are CPC members while female and minority nationality members have increased by a big margin, Xinhua said but failed to give the break-up.
Members with at least middle school education have increased to 34.9% of the total from 12.8% 14 years ago, (when the policy of Reform and opening to the outside world was unveiled), it said.
