TORONTO,CANADA: The World Kabaddi Championship Organization held a banquet, on 29 January, in Sweet India Banquet hall. It was at tended by Mr. Gurbakhash Singh Malhi, M.P., along with many business groups, Indian and Pakistani newspaper publishers and radio and television program producers. About 150 people who attended were welcomed by president of the Championship organization, Mr. Sital Singh Dhillon. A video of last year’s Kabaddi tournament in Australia, indoor Kabaddi matches in England and Toronto meetings with the World Kabaddi Federation was shown before the lunch was served.
The Organization plans on publishing a World Kabaddi Sports Magazine to help in building a box of literature about Kabaddi. The Championship-organization’s representatives stated that after Toronto championship this summer the first World Kabadd. Cup will take place in Nankana Sahib Pakistan in November of 1995.This world championship shall be an important step in advancing the cause of Kaheddi, the mother sport of the Punjabis, which has won the status of the national sport in Pakistan and England.
