CHANDIGARH, India: A group of women gheraod and man-handled Gianni Sahib Singh the Head priest of the Golden Temple in front of the Darshani Deordi in the Temple Complex. Police sources said that the priest was going to pay his respects at Harmandir Sahib when a group of women suddenly emerged there and started hurling abuses at him. Then they circled him and some of them virtually pounced upon him. They pulled down his beard, and tried to drag him by pulling his “puma” which is traditional worn by the priests. The security personnel came to his rescue and dispersed the group of irritated women. The head priest rushed to his room in the Darshani Deordi for shelter. He was later escorted to his residence on the first floor of the Parkarma. It was Gianni Sahib Singh’s second to the Golden Temple Complex after the freedom fighters were removed out from the Temple Complex. Earlier he had visited the Temple on Saturday when the Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Summit Singh Barnala had come to appear before the five head Sikh priests. Gianni Sahib Singh was shot and injured in the Temple Complex nearly six months ago.
