NEW DELHI, India: Eight opposition MPs said here on Sunday that Mr, Wir Chadha’s return to India to deposit before the Joint Parliament Committee was yet another hoax being perpetrated on the country.
They charged that Mr. Rajiv Gandhi was not interested in the truth regarding the illegal payments in the Bofors gun deal and that in this continued farce, the Joint Parliamentary Committee had been reduced to an agency to cover up the shady deal.
Asking the government to clarify what understanding had been reached between it and Mr. Win Chadha, the MPs wondered if a character certificate was NOW going to be awarded by an absconder to the Prime Minister.
