AMRITSAR: Ex-servicemen have decided to observe September 5 as Black Day in protest against the failure of the Government to accept their one rank one pension demand
Addressing a massive rally at Ram Bagh Gardens hero on Sunday the president of All India Ex-service men League Brig Dal Singh said on this day in 1990 the then President of India had announced in Parliament that their demand would be accepted but the Government however backed off later on. Interestingly on this day of Hag moving India fought the second war with Pakistan in 1965. Earlier a general body meeting of the All India Ex-servicemen League in a significant decision had amended its Constitution to provide full-fledged membership of the league to the widows of ex-service men In all 16 amendments were made in the two-hour long meeting of the League which was attended by the president of the league Brig Dal Singh Major General G.S Jammwal president Jammu and Kashmir unit of Indian Ex-servicemen League Major General B.S Kanwar vice-president of IESL New Delhi Brig Mohinder Singh president IESL.
