The preparation of the “White Paper” was especially helped by those families who

were the victims of atrocities, their friends, journalists, and some prominent social

workers. Some gave important information, some helped financially while others

encouraged us. We are grateful to all of them. We are grateful to those whose voices have

been raised for human rights in Punjab, especially Justice Ajit Singh Bains, Chairman

Punjab Human Rights Organization, Committee for and Information and Initiative on

Punjab’s Tappan Bose, Ram Kumar and Ashok Aggarwal, as well as the convener of the

Punjab Women’s forum, Dr. Jiwan Jot Kaur. We are also grateful to journalists

Mahinder Singh in Amritsar, “Jantak Paigam” editor Sardar Malwinder Singh Mali,

English Tribune’s Amritsar correspondent, Ramesh Vanaik and Punjabi Tribune’s

Morinda correspondent Harish Chander whose reports achieved heights of journalistic

ethics by reporting police atrocities with great diligence. Their exposes help in making this

white paper more comprehensive.
