STOCKTON CA: India may be in an uproar but local Sikhs are relishing the victory that congressman Gary Condit’s letter from President Clinton represents. US presidential attention is a positive step not only in the recognition of Human Rights concerns but in the recognition of the identity of a sovereign Khalistan

Several California representative have laid congressional groundwork on the behalf of their Sikh constituents among them Norm Shumway Richard Lehman Tony Cochlo Wally Herger Vic Fazio. John Doolittle and recently Richard Pombo and Gary Condit joined the illustrious group. All have endeavored to bring national attention to the Human Rights abuses endemic in the Punjab; They have been joined by unlikely allies such as Dan Bunton Jesse Helms and Robert Torricelli who have sponsored or signed measures to limit various types of non-humanitarian aid programs that go to India

In an earlier interview as Condit was thanked for his support he answered That’s what friends are for.

We commend those representatives who have taken a stand for Sikh Rights and await funher comments from the president said one local Condit supporter As far as Gary Condit goes Ceres Sikhs regard for their representative has increased ten-fold as he comes forward to fight for those friends and families who are held under the thumb of Indian oppression.
