MUKATSAR: An all party conference organized here on Sept.’s, by Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) unanimously rejected all previous accords on sharing of Punjab river waters und arrived at a consensus to launch a joint morcha against the excavation of controversial Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. The BKU resolution read by its president, Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, stated that all post-independence, accords and awards on river waters concerning Punjab were rejected and an ultimatum of one year is served on states of Rajasthan Haryana and Delhi to make their alternative arrangements for water Lakhowal declared that construction of SYL canal would not be allowed at any cost.

The resolution was approved by thousands of farmers by raising of hands Congress MP and dissident party Leader Jagmil Singh Brar, stood up and announced (o resign from Parliament if central government decided to excavate SYL canal. Senior Akall leaders of Akall Dal (Amritsar) and Akali Dal (Badal), Gurcharan Singh Tohra, Parkash Singh Badal, Bhai Manjit Singh, Gurdev Singh. Also gave their acceptance to resolution by raising their hands.
