Dhaka: India’s irrigation secretary MAA. Chittale arrived Saturday to attend the Sixth Indo-Bangla talks on the sharing of water of common rivers. “We are looking forward to fruitful discussion with Bangladeshi officials” said Chittale who is leading a five member delegation. “Both sides are well set to narrow their differences and we hope to come closer.
Official sources here said that Dhaka was likely to suggest the revival of the 1977 agreement between the two countries on river water sharing. India _an¢ Bangladesh have had no accord on the water issue since the memorandum of understanding expired in 1988.
