It was March 10, 1946, when a Sikh deputation headed by Master Tara Singh including Giani Kartar Singhand advocate Hamam Singh of Lahore met M.A_Jinnah at his residence 10 Aurangzeb road New Delhi and sought the advice of Jinnah when the Bnitish India Govt presented the Bill for an independence for India in the central assembly as the Sikhs wanted to plea for establishing a Sikh state.
Al this Jinnah frankly advised the Sikh deputation that forming or demanding of a Sikh state at this stage would be meaningless and no help in your case as the Sikhs had any English newspaper. But was established was their own Sikh secretariat Hqrs. in New Delhi although only few hundred yards from Parliament Building in New Delhi they had their own lands in the complex of Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. Whereas on the other hands A.I.C.C. have their two English Dailies, “Hindustan Times” and “Times of India” besides its own Hars. Office in New Delhi in Jantar Mantar Road and besides this Muslim’s have their own English Newspaper “Dawn” Daily and own secretariat at Delhi.
It was indeed a misfortune that we lost the opportunity with the result the Sikh nation has become as Slaves since 1947 (after the partition of India.)
So Khalsa Ji, now by the tireless efforts of the California dedicated Sikhs, we have established our weekly English newspaper “The World Sikh News” and also purchased a historical Sikh Intl. Sect. Building where the W.S.O. offices are located at Capitol Hill Washington D.C. Please donate and subscribe liberally W.S.N. as to make it more progressive so that its Offices are established in Washington D.C.
