Sir,
I was shocked to see the front page picture of the Punjabi side of the World Sikh News. It has shown the women (and some men) walking bare foot in the parade at Gur Gaddi day at Yuba City. Please explain: Does this mean, the participants are followers of Jainism or Hinduism going to worship their Goddess (like Naina Devi etc.) or are they supposed to be torturing their bodies to go to heaven? In Sikhism, all above are not acceptable especially, when Panj Piras, who represent all Sikhs look very handsome in their beautiful distinguished attire from head to toe. Why do these women think they will have more access to God by walking bare foot!
The people, who are living away from homeland 3040 years, are confused enough already about our religion, rituals and culture etc. Please don’t add more to our ignorance.
