NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court this week appointed one man committee, headed by Urban Development secretary Mr. C. Ramachandran, to examine waiving off rent, amounting to Rs I 5 crore, duo from 127 VVIP and government servants. For their accommodation.

‘The committee was appointed by a division bench comprising Mr, Justice Kuldip Singh and Mr. Justice Faizan Uddin, during further hearing on public interest petition by Mr. Shiv Sagar Tiwari, alleging misuse of discretionary power by the government in the allotment of government| accommodation.

The court asked Mr, Ramachandran to issue individual notices to all the 127 Persons, hear them and file a report by march 25 next, The court also directed eviction within six weeks of all those, including MPs, who are occupying houses above their entitlement. The court also directed that those who have been allotted accommodation for security reasons must be shifted to a compact security complex.
