WASHINGTON,DC: At a press conference held in Jullunder, Punjab, senior vice president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) SB) vere Akali leader Kuldip Wadala resigned from his post demanding that the Akali leadership support freedom of the Sikh nation and abandon its alliance with the BJP. Wadala’s resignation comes a few days after his return from three month trip abroad visiting Sikhs in US Canada and UK. Where he was given strong advice on the need for an independent Khalistan. Mr. Wadala a recently returned to Punjab a changed man. wadala stated that SAD policies nullify sacrifices made by sikh youth and urged that “their ‘pious’ cause of freedom should be recognized.” Since 1984, over 150,000 Sikhs have been killed by government forces. Wadala also expressed outrage at the Akali’s unconditional alliance with the BJP and the likelihood of Tohra becoming the party’s candidate for SGPC presidency. Mr. Wadala noted that under the Indian constitution, it was not possible to satisfy the demands for Sikh freedom. “The major split precipitated by Kuldip Singh Wadala reveals the bankrupt leadership provided by Badal and his cronies and their open betrayal of the Sikh nation,” said Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh Council of Khalistan.

“We are happy that his visit with Sikhs abroad was so en lightening” Dr. Aulakh stated. “But he should have known that the Sikh masses within Khalistan and without are of one voice: That only a Shantmai Morcha for the liberation of our home land will provide the freedom Sikhs need to ensure survival into the next millennium.” Shantmai Morcha refers to the Sikh tradition of nonviolent civil disobedience for a just cause. “Given India’s economic bankruptcy, its disintegration is imminent. India will go the way of the Soviet empire and Khalistan will soon be free. “The idea of calling for a Shantmai Morchais the farthest thing from the minds of Akali leaders,” Dr. Aulakh said. He then quoted Kanwaljit Singh, Secretary of the Akali Dal (Badal), stating “In future, the Akali Dal will never launch a morcha and will wage struggle by a different means.” [Emphasis added] Dr. Aulakh also referred to the Supreme Court of India’s ruling that the Indian Government’s policy of mass killing and cremation of Sikhs is “worse than a genocide.”

“The Supreme Court of India has been more supportive of Sikh freedom than the Akali leaders,” Dr. Aulakh continued. “The Akali leaders have stated their refusal to engage in a Shantmai Morcha despite the Supreme Court’s admission. Instead of resisting Indian Government genocide, Badal embraces it for his own personal ambition. Badal’s supplication to the Be is also reprehensible. But Sildss realize that India’s majority community is the culprit, not a particular party.” Dr. Aulakh concluded “If Badal’s night and man has rejected Badal’s leadership, the Sikh Nation should do the same. Sikh leaders must learn that there is only one way to end Indian oppression complete in dependence for Khalistan.”
